[Hey guys! Just a quick update. I have no words for what happened but I want to put it out here in my blog because I well, feel a lot of things]
I've never written anything like this on my blog so please bear with me. Just yesterday, around lunch time (PH time), I found out that one of my favorite singers (OF ALL TIME HUHU) was shot dead after her concert. She was at the Meet And Greet, signing autographs when a man carrying two handguns and a knife, shot her dead as soon as it was his turn to greet her. What breaks my heart more was she greeted him with open arms for a hug................ huhu. All I could think of, this is so unfair.
Christina was so beautiful and talented. I may have not known her personally but I knew she was a really kind person. And what happened to her is crazy... all she wanted to do was make people happy with her music. My heart is literally breaking from what happened.
So today, I listen to her music and try to analyze what has happened the past few weeks. AND I FOUND MYSELF PONDERING ON QUESTION ALONE - SINCE WHEN DID WE BECOME SO INHUMANE?
This is 2016 yet there are so much killings.......... countries at war, family feuds. Include the fact that we are still in poverty and children are scared, hungry and uneducated. People are still racist and cat callers and rapists still exist. (Yeah, don't mind my grammar but I'm trying to get my point across) It's crazy. Why haven't any of these issues been addressed? I know we are slowly working our way towards development but why does it seem like everything is getting worse?
As an AIESECer and a Development Communication student, again - it breaks my heart. The change, we, the youth want is a real struggle. I try to stay positive in the light of all these happenings but you can't help but feel sad - even for a while. Fan of Christina Grimmie or not, you can't help but feel sympathetic with everything that has happened.
Sometimes, I lie down and think about the world.......... I feel scared all the more (is that normal?) Especially since in a week, I'll be leaving the Philippines and going to another country to go on exchange with AIESEC. I have no idea what lies ahead of me but I do know, I want to change the lives of those I'll be going on exchange with. I do know, I want them to think that the world is still safe and that they are loved despite my thinking (I'll be writing about my experience soon)
I know, I'll be okay. While I still mourn over Christina's death........... I do hope this teaches us to be human, teaches us to be kind.
“When we love, we always strive to become better than we are. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.”
― Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
And to Christina, you are singing with the angels now. Thank you for you and your music. You inspire a lot of young women like me. To her family, my heart is with you. Praying for all of you.
Any thoughts on this? On life lately? Let me know.
5 NOTES
I was so sad to read this story. I don't watch The Voice, so I'm not familiar with this singer. But a life should never be cut short that young. It sounds like the shooter was just an insane fan. So sad that this could not be prevented.
ReplyDeleteI do not know her, I do not watch the Voice, but after reading this, how can I not feel for her? The horror of what happened is unfathomable. It is senseless and such a complete waste of a budding life. I don't know what else to say :(

I cried when I heard about what happened. It's such a terrible loss, not only to the music world, because Christina was so strong in her faith. Ang sad talaga.
ReplyDeleteAlso, have fun on the exchange! Don't let fear keep you from doing stuff!
Though I'm not an avid fan but I've listened to some of her songs and I find her very talented. It's just sad that people are judging others based on religion.
ReplyDeleteSo much bad news in the past few days, right? I think that could be why I'm feeling a little down too lately.
ReplyDeleteBut things will get better for sure. And Christina's death (along with others in Orlando) will not be in vain for sure.
Sending love your way.
