Girl Who Wont Settle

Powered by Blogger.
[Hey guys! Just a quick update. I have no words for what happened but I want to put it out here in my blog because I well, feel a lot of things]

I've never written anything like this on my blog so please bear with me. Just yesterday, around lunch time (PH time), I found out that one of my favorite singers (OF ALL TIME HUHU) was shot dead after her concert. She was at the Meet And Greet, signing autographs when a man carrying two handguns and a knife, shot her dead as soon as it was his turn to greet her. What breaks my heart more was she greeted him with open arms for a hug................ huhu. All I could think of, this is so unfair.

Christina was so beautiful and talented. I may have not known her personally but I knew she was a really kind person. And what happened to her is crazy... all she wanted to do was make people happy with her music. My heart is literally breaking from what happened.

So today, I listen to her music and try to analyze what has happened the past few weeks. AND I FOUND MYSELF PONDERING ON QUESTION ALONE - SINCE WHEN DID WE BECOME SO INHUMANE?

This is 2016 yet there are so much killings.......... countries at war, family feuds. Include the fact that we are still in poverty and children are scared, hungry and uneducated. People are still racist and cat callers and rapists still exist. (Yeah, don't mind my grammar but I'm trying to get my point across) It's crazy. Why haven't any of these issues been addressed? I know we are slowly working our way towards development but why does it seem like everything is getting worse?

As an AIESECer and a Development Communication student, again - it breaks my heart. The change, we, the youth want is a real struggle. I try to stay positive in the light of all these happenings but you can't help but feel sad - even for a while. Fan of Christina Grimmie or not, you can't help but feel sympathetic with everything that has happened.

Sometimes, I lie down and think about the world.......... I feel scared all the more (is that normal?) Especially since in a week, I'll be leaving the Philippines and going to another country to go on exchange with AIESEC. I have no idea what lies ahead of me but I do know, I want to change the lives of those I'll be going on exchange with. I do know, I want them to think that the world is still safe and that they are loved despite my thinking (I'll be writing about my experience soon)

I know, I'll be okay. While I still mourn over Christina's death........... I do hope this teaches us to be human, teaches us to be kind.

“When we love, we always strive to become better than we are. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.”
― Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

And to Christina, you are singing with the angels now. Thank you for you and your music. You inspire a lot of young women like me. To her family, my heart is with you. Praying for all of you.

Any thoughts on this? On life lately? Let me know.

Most blogging events I go to are Manila-based, so when my good friend Ella of Behind The Mask invited me to cover the opening of Local Exchange Store in UPLB, I immediately said yes! What's funny was - I had no idea what the event was about - I just walked right into it. Also, I had to borrow Jan's camera since I was unprepared (what kind of blogger does that??) Kidding aside, I immediately fell inlove with the Local Exchange Store and here's why:

For students, getting a good night's rest is almost impossible. Sleep is the last thing on your mind when you're focused on acing that exam or watching one more episode of On The Wings of Love (I'm guilty too!) but when you put off sleep, you actually create a long list of health and beauty problems. Luckily, there's Argan Oil!

Argan Oil is one of the rarest oils in the world and is a plant oil produced from the argan kernels that can be obtained from the argan nuts that comes from the argan tree which only grows in Morocco. Argan Oil can be used in both culinary and beauty products.

I’m no wedding planner but for any plan (really) the first step is to choose a date! More often that not, people forget to save THE date. We get so caught up in the whole planning process that we forget the most important part of it – inviting people to actually come. And no, it’s not simply sending an email inviting everyone on your contact list (Yup, I’m talking about Bride Wars):

I'm Melissa

a 20- something Morena from Manila who will work for food (not half kidding). I love getting lost in new places and lost in telling stories. Talk to me about iced coffee, business, side hustles and productivity! I'm obsessed with binders. #HufflePuff
